Sharing the Gospel

The Gospel Broken Down

Becoming a Christian is one of the most important moments in a person’s life. It happens when we make a decision to drop our pride and control and surrender our lives to our Savior, Jesus Christ & trusting in Him to guide our lives. The key word here is that it is a decision. That decision is an eternal one.

Sharing the Good News of the Gospel can be one of the greatest gifts you can give someone. Oftentimes, we as Christians carry fear or lack of confidence to share the Gospel with others. What if they reject me? What if they judge me? I don’t know how to share the Gospel properly? I don’t know enough about the Bible if asked more. These are all reasons, among others, why many keep the Gospel to themselves. It is for these reasons that I wanted to share a clear understanding of the Gospel in an effort to help expand the population of Team Christ.

Let’s take a look at arguably the most popular scripture in the Bible.

John 3:16-18 (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  • For God…
        • The Gospel is about God and His character, not about us.
  • So Loved…
        • The Gospel is about God’s immeasurable and unmatched love for us
  • The World…
        • The Gospel is inclusive and for everyone in spite of our status.
        • No race, class, financial position or political party is chosen over another.
        • If you have a heartbeat, the Gospel is for you.
  • He gave His only Son…
        • The Gospel is about His sacrifice of His most prized possession (His Son) for us.
  • Have everlasting life…
        • The Gospel is about God’s desire to be with us forever.
        • Permanent redemption/reconciliation for those that believe.
  • Condemnation vs Saving
        • Because we were born spiritually separated from God due to sin (original disobedience), God sent His Son to resolve that separation.
        • Jesus was sent to save and reconcile not punish and condemn.
        • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… (Romans 3:23)
        • The wages (payment) of sin (ungodliness) is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
  • He who believes…
      • The Gospel is about making a decision to accept the free gift by believing in what Jesus did for us in our hearts.
      • That He died for our sins/faults/imperfections/disobedience to pay the price we deserved.

I pray that this may help encourage or provide confidence to fellow Team Christ members to share the Good News with others. We don’t have the power to save anyone. We are just called to plant a seed by sharing the Gospel and let the Holy Spirit do the rest.

    God Bless!
